SURPRISE Trip to The Kotel & Park Fun!

April 29, 2012

Today, Sharfman’s took us on a surprise trip!! We headed in our air conditioned charter bus to The Kotel and to daven during the special time period that is Sefiras HaOmer. It was truly inspiring and uplifting to daven there together with so many women and girls who were there as well. After this burst of inspiration, we headed over to the lusciously scenic Gan Sacher. Mrs. Fuld, our Mechanechet, led a very competitive game of relay races :) Plus, we were pleasantly surprised when some of our faculty including our Madricha as well as Mrs. Haymann who joined us for the day! We then played ball and relaxed in the sun, until we had a school sponsored picnic lunch. It was so great to be back together with everyone after such a long Pesach vacation :) Overall it was a very inspiring and relaxing morning and a nice way to celebrate Sunday and begin the week with Achdus and inspiration!

2 Day Eilat Tiyul: Sun & Fun…Sharfman’s Style!

March 14, 2012

In Sharfman’s, some of the greatest Adar happenings are not simply our Annual Purim Chagigah or inspirational activites and classes. It is also the time in which (for many of us) after completing our Chumash Paper, we go down to Eilat for not 1 day but 2 days to enjoy the peaceful ocean breeze as well as the truly marvelous vistas.

We were accompanied by  our Madricha, Yehudis Jacobowitz!! We experienced the Timna Valley Sand Slide, a breathtaking hike through Solomon’s Pillars, and then we got to take a break for lunch…

Massada, Dead Sea, Ein Gedi and More!

February 15, 2012

Recently, we went on a Tiyul that encompassed Massada, the beautiful Dead Sea as well as Ein Gedi! Our Bnot Torah Tour Bus left really early in the morning for us to experience our inspiring trip accompanied by our Tour Guide, Rabbi Jacobs! Best of all, because we got up soo early, it enabled us to participate in our own early morning climb up to the top of Massada. As such, we were able to experience Sunrise on the top of Massada, overlooking miles upon miles of the beautiful Land of Israel, as well as Daven Shacharit there! Everyone could not stop talking about how special of a day this was going to be :-)

Following the trek up to Massada, we were greeted to our very own guided tour of the site. Upon the conclusion of learning about the history and the relevance of the area, we headed back down for swimming and some good sun at the Dead Sea as well as Ein Gedi. Below are just some of the pictures from this unbelievable trip! I can’t believe that we managed to do soo much in just 1 day!

Sharfman’s Visits Kad V’Chomer Art Studio!!

December 22, 2011

In addition to several opportunities to explore our ARTISTIC  side throughout the year, Sharfman’s recently gave the entire school another opportunity to express their artistic talents at the famous art studio, Kad V’Chomer! Both Shana Aleph and Shana Bet participated in a great morning of fun. Plus, we were surprised by Mrs. Kuntsler, who baked a homemade birthday cake for Amy Reznik :)

Anyways, we boarded the bus and then quickly began to move our paint and brushes on the various objects that we selected to design as our very own ceramic masterpiece. Throughout the morning, girls designed items ranging from mugs to clocks. Indeed, some students even elected to design Judaica items such as their very own Ceramic Menorah to a beautiful and original Netilat Yadayim Washing Cup. There was such a variety of things to do.

Besides, it was a great opportunity for the entire school to further bond together and really learn from one another! We constantly were doing and seeing new and exciting methods…

Our AMAZING 2 Day Northern Negev Tiyul!

December 11, 2011

Guest Post by: Yehudis Jacobowitz, Madricha

One of my favorite aspects of going on the tiyulim is the never ending breathtaking scenery that Israel has to offer! There is nothing like it in the world and this tiyul was no exception. We started with an awesome hike at Nachal Arugot near Ein Gedi and from there we were off to go camel riding. Riding through the desert on a camel was an experience that helped us to feel what traveling was like for people who lived here thousands of years ago. From there we headed to Mitzpe Rimon where we were staying for the night to enjoy a delicious dinner, and the night was still not over. We all sat around for a few hours playing games, laughing, schmoozing, singing, and really enjoying each other’s company.

The next day was even more packed as we headed back out to the desert where we learned how to shoot a bow and arrow and practice our archery skills. We continued with another amazing hike, a stunning viewpoint overlooking a giant crater, and then a fun trip to some colorful sand dunes where we were able to fill bottles with colored sand…

2 Day Trip: Eastern Galil Experience!

November 15, 2011

We started our morning at the beautiful view of Mt. Arbel. It was an challenging yet exhilarating hike down the mountain, where we were able to enjoy some of the most stunning views in Israel. After we all conquered the mountains of Arbel, we headed over to Teveriya to the Keverim of the Rambam & Rabbi Yochanan Ben-Zakai. The highlight of the day was no doubt our visit to the Chocolate Factory where we had a tour of the factory and learned about the way they make the chocolate. After that, we all had the chance to make our own chocolates with whatever fillings and toppings we chose. It was truly a delicious experience.

After an amazing day touring and hanging out with friends, we checked into the Ron hotel in Tsfat. We enjoyed a delicious dinner, and had the chance to spend the rest of the night hanging out on the Tsfat midrichov, enjoying the shops and restaurants. In the morning we headed on a walking tour of Tsfat, visiting the ancient shuls and alleyways, learning about the history of the kabballah and mysticism that began in those very places. We visited the famous Candle factory, where many of us purchased souvenirs, gifts and Chanuka candles. We then had free time to go shopping in the Artist

All About Our Enchanting Tefillah Tiyul!

October 31, 2011

Recently, we went on a Tiyul and were accompanied by our Mechanechet, Mrs. Fuld who also teaches an unbelievable Tefillah course to us all! The reason why she joined us on this Tiyul is because it was a Tefillah Tiyul! You see, at Bnot Torah/Sharfman’s we don’t simply learn in a classroom. Rather, we live our learning and explore our land through Tiyulim and various trips throughout the year. And so, Mrs. Fuld acted as our Tour Guide as she explained to us not just interesting nuggets about Tefillah, but also about the various graves of Tzaddikim that we visited. in fact, on that Tiyul we visited the special Kever of the one and only Shimon HaTzaddik! From there our chartered bus took us to the gravesite of Rabbi Moshe Feinstein zt”l. This location was meaningful to soo many of us, as we all had heard of Rav Moshe, and now were able to daven and say Tehillim right oppositive his Kever! All in all, it was an enchanting experience that enhanced not only Mrs. Fuld’s class

AMAZING 2-Day Golan Tiyul!

September 21, 2011

Guest Post by Ms. Esther Benayon, Rakezet

We just returned from our very first Overnight Tiyul to the beautiful region known as The Golan Heights. First thing Monday morning, we headed up North, where joined by our Madricha Yehudis, we went straight to Kfar Kedem. There we were taken back to what felt like ancient Biblical times. We dressed up in their “garb,” learned how to make flour and baked our own bread over the fire as well! We all then enjoyed riding camels or donkeys as they did back in the day. After that amazing experience, went to refresh ourselves with a swim in the warm water of the Kinerret. Plus, we were so lucky to be able to arrive at the Kevarim of Rabbi Akiva, The Ramchal and Rachel, Rabbi Akiva’s wife in time for all of us to recite Tehillim as well as daven Mincha. From these holy sites, we headed towards the beautiful Hispin Guest House where we spent the night. The next morning brought us straight to the Banias, a gorgeous nature hike through running springs and sprawling waterfalls. We then headed…

Trip to Gan Yehoshua Park

September 18, 2011

Hey everyone! I just wanted to briefly share with you a great event that I believe really helped make the first couple of days a positive and energetic experience. Our Bnot Torah/Sharfman’s Orientation Week concluded this past Friday, with a trip to Gan Yehoshua Park. All of us Sharfman’s girls had a relaxing, yet eventful day, row boating on the beautiful Gan Yehoshua Lake. We also opted to relax, tan, and get to know one another. Plus, we were joined by both our Rakezet, Esther Benayon, and our Madricha, Yehudis Jacobowitz! Eventually, the boats were docked and we all enjoyed the delicious lunch that the school provided for us, while basking in the shade of the gorgeous palm trees. After a few hours in the park, we headed back on the bus to get ready for Kabbalat Shabbat at The Kotel and an inspiring Shabbaton appropriately entitled, “Beginnings” led by the Dean of Bnot Torah Institute, Rabbi Label Sharfman…
