We just returned from our very first Overnight Tiyul to the beautiful region known as The Golan Heights. First thing Monday morning, we headed up North, where joined by our Madricha Yehudis, we went straight to Kfar Kedem. There we were taken back to what felt like ancient Biblical times. We dressed up in their "garb," learned how to make flour and baked our own bread over the fire as well! We all then enjoyed riding camels or donkeys as they did back in the day. After that amazing experience, went to refresh ourselves with a swim in the warm water of the Kinerret. Plus, we were so lucky to be able to arrive at the Kevarim of Rabbi Akiva, The Ramchal and Rachel, Rabbi Akiva's wife in time for all of us to recite Tehillim as well as daven Mincha.
We just returned from our very first Overnight Tiyul to the beautiful region known as The Golan Heights. First thing Monday morning, we headed up North, where joined by our Madricha Yehudis, we went straight to Kfar Kedem. There we were taken back to what felt like ancient Biblical times. We dressed up in their “garb,” learned how to make flour and baked our own bread over the fire as well! We all then enjoyed riding camels or donkeys as they did back in the day. After that amazing experience, went to refresh ourselves with a swim in the warm water of the Kinerret. Plus, we were so lucky to be able to arrive at the Kevarim of Rabbi Akiva, The Ramchal and Rachel, Rabbi Akiva’s wife in time for all of us to recite Tehillim as well as daven Mincha. From these holy sites, we headed towards the beautiful Hispin Guest House where we spent the night. The next morning brought us straight to the Banias, a gorgeous nature hike through running springs and sprawling waterfalls. We then headed towards relaxing rafting down the calm waters of the Jordan River. On the way home, we stopped to daven at the Kever of Choni HaMaagal. Overall this was a great tiyul, immensely enjoyed by all, and it really put the beauty and special sentiments of Eretz Yisrael into perspective for us—just in time for us to arrive back in Yerushalayim to enjoy Shabbos.
