Welcome to Happyville: Adar in Sharfman’s !
February 22, 2010
Adar is a happy month anywhere, but at Sharfman’s it’s really HAPPY! We kicked off Adar with a real surprise! Just as we finished our first class of the morning, Rabbi Sharfman came in and told us that a bus was waiting for us downstairs. We got on the bus without any idea of where we were headed or why. We just knew that it was Adar and this was Sharfman’s. Soon the bus dropped us off at the Malcha Mall. There, our Mechanchot divided us up into small teams, each led by a Teacher or Chonechet. We were told that we were on a Treasure Hunt and the objects of our search were our Shana Betters. Sounds easy, doesn’t it?
Well, it’s amazing what a change of outfit, a borrowed sheitel or hat and a pair of sunglasses can do to change a person’s appearance. Of course, there are always some people who nobody notices! In fact, can you tell which Shana Bet girl this is in the picture below? She disguised herself soo well that she just shopped around this store in the mall forever

Bnot Torah Blood Drive!
January 18, 2010
We are often told that in doing Chessed we must give of ourselves. We had a great opportunity to do so quite literally, when we participated in the Bnot Torah Blood Drive that occured in our school last week! In the afternoon Magen David Adom Blood Bank officials came to our school to allow us to sign up to donate blood. Interestingly, we learned that we all had to be weighed before giving blood! Apparently, you have to prove that you weigh more than 110 lbs and then you are allowed to begin this special and holy Mitzvah that will go to aiding Jews in need in the Land of Israel.

Sharfman’s Performs Chessed at Yad Eliezer
November 5, 2009
Guest Post by Shira Beleck
In addition to our own unique Chessed opportunities that Mrs. Nissel, our Chessed Coordinator, arranges for us to perform on a weekly basis, we recently had the privilege of visiting Yad Eliezer, an organization that is legendary for providing food and more to the IDF as well as the needy people of Israel! After hearing the stories of the families and soldiers that we’d be helping, we were eager to start and give of our time and energy to this worthy cause.
It took planning and team work but at the end of the long night, we had successfully packaged over 25 boxes with items such as: oil, ketchup, noodles, rice, shampoo and body wash…
Chessed is in the Air

Guest Post by Mrs. Debbi Nissel, Chessed Coordinator
Hi everyone it’s Mrs. Nissel! By now all the girls have surely returned rejuvenated from our Sukkos break. In the weeks of school that we have had, the girls really possess an overall appreciation for all of the faculty and classes at Sharfman’s. Personally, I love being able to watch girls take the new knowledge that they acquire with each class and put it to use in daily activities. As I’m sure you know our goal in Sharfman’s is to allow you to acquire tools for life and forever move in a positive direction. As such, we want you to enhance your year in Israel not only through incredible classes but also by performing acts of Chessed! And so, as Chessed Coordinator, I personally meet with each and every student to build a unique Chessed opportunity that will allow you to maximize your Chessed experience. After customizing a Chessed experience that will suit you, we hold our Annual Chessed Workshop in which we dispense great advice and insights into performing Chessed with a smile and also serve some tasty cookies!
