Ben Adam L’Chaveiro Week
January 27, 2010
If I had to make the difficult choice of choosing which week has been the most exciting week in school until now, I would probably vote for Bein Adam L’Chaveiro Week somewhere in My Personal Top 5! For 7 days we celebrated Bein Adam L’Chaveiro Week in unique Sharfman’s style. It started when the school assigned each girl in the school a “Nutty Buddy.” In order to show the girls how much there is to gain from an unexpected friendship, Sharfman’s matched up girls who really didn’t know each other well. Each “Nutty Buddy” was to shower her “Buddy” with small daily presents during the course of the week.
The results far exceeded the expectations
Girls spent a lot of time finding out about their Buddies so they could find cute inexpesnive gifts which suited the recipient. In the process, they discovered how distinctive each individual girl is.

The Circular Sharfman’s Classroom
January 22, 2010
With the seminary year well under way, I just wanted to share with you a unique aspect that I feel really enhances the overall academic experience here at Bnot Torah/Sharfman’s and makes it truly one of a kind! You see, whenever you walk into a Sharfman’s Classroom, regardless of what level you are on (we have 4 different tracks in our school to cater to ones scholastic abilities) as opposed to sitting in the conventional desks that we are all familiar with after twelve years of going through and finally graduating high school, I was expecting the same desk to greet me in seminary. Much to my surprise, when you walk into a Sharfman’s Classroom it doesn’t look like a classroom at all. Rather, each room feels regal! Each room feels like a Conference Room with a circular table that each and every girl sits around.

Massada, Dead Sea, Ein Gedi and More!
January 20, 2010
Recently, we went on a Tiyul that encompassed Massada, the beautiful Dead Sea as well as Ein Gedi! Our Bnot Torah Tour Bus left really early in the morning (and yes all those who attend the daily Garden of Emunah Morning Club still met for their daily inspiration!!) Best of all, because we got up soo early, it enabled us to participate in our own early morning climb up to the top of Massada. As such, we were able to experience Sunrise on the top of Massada, overlooking miles upon miles of the beautiful Land of Israel, as Daven Shacharit there! Everyone could not stop talking about how special of a day this was going to be

Bnot Torah Blood Drive!
January 18, 2010
We are often told that in doing Chessed we must give of ourselves. We had a great opportunity to do so quite literally, when we participated in the Bnot Torah Blood Drive that occured in our school last week! In the afternoon Magen David Adom Blood Bank officials came to our school to allow us to sign up to donate blood. Interestingly, we learned that we all had to be weighed before giving blood! Apparently, you have to prove that you weigh more than 110 lbs and then you are allowed to begin this special and holy Mitzvah that will go to aiding Jews in need in the Land of Israel.

International Theme at Tzipporah Moskovitz’s House!
January 15, 2010
The past couple of Bayit Cham events that Tzipporah Moskovitz, one of the many Shana Aleph Chonechet’s here at Sharfman’s, has hosted at her house have been really awesome! What was really cool was that one of the Bayit Cham’s started off with a real Mexican feel
We were all greeted to a yummy nacho party. We had tons of Nachos with all sorts of dips, gaucamole, cheese sauce as well a salso. It was as they would say in Spanish: Moy Kaleyenday!
Then we each made our own pizza, and dressed it with various toppings ranging from extra cheese, cheese crust, extra sauce and so on and so forth. Of course there were olives, mushrooms, and peppers to add taste and an original look.

Mrs. Zweig brought and showed us everything we will ever need to know about baking Challah in our own home. From how to make your challah fluffy, to the best way to knead the dough, she didn’t miss a beat!
She taught us 7 different ways to shape our Challah and even demonstrated each one of these various techniques.
In fact, each girl got her own piece of dough and got to practice all the beautiful different ways to make their own unique Challah.

Renowned Kashrut Journalist Visits Bnot Torah
January 7, 2010
As I’m sure you know, keeping Kosher in Israel can get confusing…really fast! And so, even though we have been living in Israel for a number of months, it is always advantageous to stay up to date with the latest Kashrut happenings, as well as to brush up on the overall Kashrut situation in Israel. This past Sunday morning we all had the privilege of having the famed journalist, Mr. Yechiel Spero, who writes for several online venues, address the entire school on the Kashrut situation in Israel.
In a lively, entertaining way, Mr. Spero explained to us, in a clear and practical English, the various Kashrut agencies in Israel and gave us guidelines as to how we can asses whether a product is Kosher and whether we can eat in a particular restaurant.
One of the most enlightening aspects of his interactive Power Point Presentation…
