Beauty Night: A Night of Indulgence and Fun
September 30, 2009
Guest Post by: Riki Gewirtz, Rakezet
Hello everyone! While the girls are enjoying their two day Tiyul to the Golan, I wanted to more formally introduce myself as well as share with you some of the highlights from “Beauty Night.” I am very excited to serve as Sharfman’s first Rakezet! As a Rakezet, I have a very unique role of planning and hosting exciting extra curricular activities that will take place throughout the school year exclusively for Shana Aleph and Shana Bet students of Bnot Torah/Sharfman’s. During these events, I get to know the girls in a very informal setting, and by extension, we are all able to form meaningful relationships while having a good time. I also am in school three mornings a week to schmooze, have a chavrusa…
Bayit Cham: Hot Drink Bar on the Rooftop Patio!
September 17, 2009
Guest Post by Ariella Katz, Shana Aleph Chonechet
For the first Bayit Cham of the year, I wanted to make it a really special and unique evening for everyone to enjoy! And so, I decided to surprise everyone. Instead of having the Bayit Cham in my house, we headed off to my rooftop patio and were inspired by the breathtaking view of Yerushalayim. Being that everyone still hasn’t been in Israel for a long time yet, it was great to be able to point out various landmarks and neighborhoods. On a clear night you could see as far as Mevaseret! Anyways, we started the night off with a “Hot Drink Bar” that featured cinnamon hot chocolate, peanut butter hot chocolate, whip cream…

Guest Post by Riki Gewirtz, Rakezet
Hey everyone! I just wanted to briefly share with you a great event that I believe really helped make the first couple of days a positive and energetic experience. Orientation Week concluded this past Friday, with a trip to Gan Yehoshua. The Sharfman’s girls had a relaxing, yet eventful day row boating on the beautiful Gan Yehoshua Lake. Students also opted to relax, tan, and get to know one another. Eventually…
Meet the Street
September 11, 2009
Groups of incoming Bnot Torah/Sharfman’s students descended upon the streets of Ramat Eshkol on September 10th, during Orientation Week, to explore and become more familiar with our neighborhood and its colorful ambiance. In addition, the informal tour allowed students to become more acquainted (outside of the confines of the walls of a classroom or Beit Midrash) with the various personalities that comprise the Bnot Torah/Sharfman’s faculty. Small groups of girls were led by a Mechanechet, a Chonechet, or a Rakezet, who acted as tour guides, to tour the neighborhood’s lush parks, point out how close to our school much of our faculty live, and enjoy the street side markets, restaurants, and Ramat Eshkol Shopping Promenade.
Visit to the Kotel and Orientation Night
September 9, 2009
The first two nights of Orientation Week have been inspiring and entertaining. After settling into our apartments, it was off to the Kotel. It was great to be able to daven there once again!
It was at the Kotel that I really realized that I was back in Israel for Shana Bet. It’s soo nice being back seeing familiar faces and places. On the second night of Orienation Week, we all get together and take the time to really introduce and meet all the girls from different cities who are in Sharfman’s. It was soo much fun to meet all the Shana Aleph girls and answer all of their questions about Sharfman’s, and share with them the knowledge I gained from my Shana Aleph.
Airport Arrival: We Have Arrived!
September 9, 2009
Wow! What a whirlwind day it has been. We said goodbye to our friends and family back home and boarded the group flight heading towards Israel. On the plane we all got to bond and meet. It was great to see that soo many people were like me and were motivated to spend this year growing. After what felt like forever, we landed and not one of us lost a bag! As we came out we were greeted by soo many people from Rabbi Sharfman and Rabbi Green, to our Mechanechet’s, Mrs. Haymann and Mrs. Fuld I felt at home—they even knew all of our names.
